Community Outreach Workers
The Community Outreach Program is a community-based program created to prevent and reduce the depth of poverty in the Waterloo Region. The goal is to help children and families to access the services they need in their own community. Community Outreach Worker assists families with children from birth to 18 years.
A Community Outreach Worker can support families by providing information about services and help to find ways to connect to community resources for:
- Food
- Clothing
- Shelter-resources and information
- Counselling- family and individual
- Child care and Children’s needs- information and equipment
- Recreation- activities, fees, equipment
- Transportation- to attend appointments and meetings
- Employment/Education- resources and information
A Community Outreach Worker keeps information private and confidential.
Referrals: Appointments are not required and drop-in visits are welcome. Families may also call ahead to make appointments. Five Community Outreach sites are sponsored by K-W Counselling Services, in partnership with the City of Kitchener, to serve families living near these neighbourhood community centres.
Fees: The services of the Community Outreach Program are free of charge.
