Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)

What is Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)?

A critical incident is an extraordinary event, which has a stressful impact sufficient enough to overwhelm the coping skills of either an individual or group. It is common, in fact quite normal, for people to experience emotional aftershocks when they have been through a horrible event. Critical incident stress is a normal reaction of normal people to abnormal events. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, a professional CISM team is available to guide you through crisis situations.

Having support available immediately after a traumatic event will lessen the long-term effects and strong reactions so that people will be able to move on with their lives more effectively. Our CISM teams provide “the calm after the storm”.

For more information about our CISM team contact Lois Booth at 519-884-0000 x227.
